-
Shot from 1,000'
to 14,000' above the ground
-
Shot at 90 degree
angle to the ground (looking straight down) through a camera port in the
bottom of the aircraft
-
May be shot from
low altitude in sequential frames then join images to create a mosaic with
high level of detail
-
Verticals from
35mm and medium format are useful for providing spatial relationship among
features and structures on the ground such as property lines.
-
Verticals are
also often used as exhibits in court cases for accident scenes etc
-
Verticals from
35mm and medium format are not normally ortho-rectified as mapping verticals
images are but do offer opportunity to scale distances where a high degree
of accuracy is not required.
-
Verticals for
mapping, also called orthophotography, are explained on page titled Mapping.
